Sometimes it is confusing to understand an explanation of what a business analyst really does especially when it is very technically written or explained. If one cares to read a business analysis definition and try to digest it the responsibilities can come simple.
A business analyst needs to have an in-depth understanding of the client’s business, his specifications or requirements for the project. For the analyst to deliver appropriate service, he needs to communicate well with the client, listening to their needs and analyzing it and turning it into purposeful information. At this point he should be able to have vague things properly explained by the client. After data gathering and analysis, the business analyst must have the ability to effectively convey and describe client’s needs and problems to the development team.
This means that all information needed to create viable application software should be relayed in an easily understandable manner by the business analyst. This includes a comparison between the client’s old or existing information systems and their expectations or the new one. Once the business analyst together with his team of technical experts, identify the needs and requirements to be addressed to in this project, they can start with it. At this point, the business analyst will be an expert in multi-tasking, supervising the development of the project day by day while checking out for little flaws or errors so it can be remedied as early as possible.
In case problems occur with the development of the project the business analyst communicates it with the concerned parties. Communicating with the clients the entire duration of the project will also be helpful to achieve the project’s goal. Once a project’s done, the analyst has to check on the product to see if it achieves the standards or specs set by the client just to make sure that it comes of as they expected it to be. This includes the checking of technical errors, so they can be resolved early. The results will be aptly relayed to those concerned. The business analyst has the job to check it out for necessary changes in case the product falls short of the clients specifications. Until the application runs free from problems with the clients witnessing it, the work of the business analyst doesn’t end.
